Temporary traffic signals in Kilauea

Temporary traffic signals have been installed at the intersection of Kuhio Highway and Kolo Road in Kilauea on Kauai.
The State Department of Transportation said the signals are currently in a flashing mode.

Kauai Officials Warn Beachgoers Of Sharks

Ocean Safety officials warned beachgoers on Tuesday to stay out of the water on Kauai’s North Shore after sharks were spotted.

Hamilton, Powers successful at Drug Aware Pro

Bethany Hamilton advanced to Round 3 and Roy Powers won his heat yesterday in the Drug Aware Pro at Margaret River in Australia.
Hamilton surfed the 9- to 10-foot waves to finish second to Australia’s Nicola Atherton and will face New Zealand’s Paige Hareb.

Bystander saves swimmer

A 48-year-old South Carolina man was rescued from the surf at Lumahai Beach on the North Shore yesterday around 3 p.m.
