A visitor hiking the Na Pali Coast yesterday sustained injuries and had to be evacuated by Air 1 rescue helicopter.

Firefighters escort injured hiker

NA PALI COAST TRAIL — Emergency responders were called to rescue an injured man after his mother called dispatch at 6:18 p.m. Saturday night.
The man, a 27-year-old from Seattle, was hiking through rugged terrain near Hanakapi‘ai Beach.
His mother called dispatch to report he had injured his ankle, according to Mary Daubert, county spokeswoman.

Department of Land and Natural Resources firefighting personnel on Kaua‘i contained a fire near the end of the 11-mile Kalalau hiking trail at the Kalalau campground, according to a DLNR statement.
