Chopper plucks woman from near Hanakoa Valley

A visitor hiking the Na Pali Coast yesterday sustained injuries and had to be evacuated by Air 1 rescue helicopter.
“We received a call around 4 p.m. from a male hiker saying there was an injured female in the Hanakoa Valley,” said Mary Daubert, Kaua‘i County spokesperson.

Firefighters escort injured hiker

NA PALI COAST TRAIL — Emergency responders were called to rescue an injured man after his mother called dispatch at 6:18 p.m. Saturday night.
The man, a 27-year-old from Seattle, was hiking through rugged terrain near Hanakapi‘ai Beach.
His mother called dispatch to report he had injured his ankle, according to Mary Daubert, county spokeswoman.
