Blossoming Lotus, a vegan cafe, catering service and bakery on Kauai, announced it will close on Dec. 31, citing financial reasons.
“Due to our recent restructure, the past debt the business is carrying is proving to be dire,” said cafe managers in a written letter to patrons.
Calls to owners weren’t answered on Tuesday.

Pork products recalled in Hawaii

The U.S. Food Safety and Inspection Service announced the recall of approximately 4,535 pounds of pork products in Hawaii because they might be contaminated.
The FSIS said Palama Holdings LLC of Kapolei, Hawaii, initiated the recall because the fully cooked pork products might be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

Sale of Bali Hai pending after furlough

After an extended closure, the Bali Hai Restaurant at the Hanalei Bay Resort is nearing a purchase agreement with Bar Acuda chef and owner Jim Moffat.

Kauai shrimp farm under quarantine

The State Department of Agriculture has placed an emergency quarantine prohibiting the movement of shrimp from Limaloa Farm on Kaua’i.
The quarantine was issued on Monday when tests confirmed White Spot Syndrome Virus in the shrimp.
