Report: Kaua’i’s June electric rates highest in state

Kaua‘i residents paid the highest electricity price in the state during the month of June, according to the Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism’s first-ever energy trends report issued yesterday.
The report states that Kaua‘i residents were charged $0.466 per kilowatt hour in June, compared to $0.297 per kilowatt hour for Honolulu residents.

Hawaii requires solar water heaters on new homes

Hawaii is first state to require solar water heaters in new homes.
Gov. Linda Lingle signed a bill into law Thursday requiring the energy-saving systems in homes starting in 2010.

KIUC reaches net metering limits

Young Bros. raises fuel fee 52%

Young Brothers Ltd. boosted its fuel surcharge 51.8 percent today for freight shipped between the islands in response to fuel prices that have risen nearly 44 percent since March.
