When Judy Lenthall, director for the Kaua‘i Food Bank, wants hams, she will get hams.
Times Supermarket had pallets of hams in the back of its store awaiting the arrival of Kaua‘i Food Bank trucks, Monday, after a combined contribution from the Hawai‘i Hotel and Lodging Association, Kaua‘i Chapter, and Coldwell Bankers Bali Hai Realty enabled the food bank to purchase 800 hams.
The hams will make holiday meals a little more special for the needy and hungry people on Kaua‘i.
Distribution of holiday meals and gifts started Tuesday at the Salvation Army and included some of the holiday hams which Lenthall refused to budge on.
“I want hams,” Lenthall said firmly when Doug Sears and Steve Yannarell, representing the HHLA contributed $5,000 to the Kaua‘i Food Bank last week. “It’s not the holidays unless you have some ham.”
