The beach at Hanalei Bay on Kaua’i’s North Shore has been closed because of shark sightings.

Kaua’i Ocean Safety Bureau officials said several sharks between 6- and 8-feet long were spotted by lifeguards in the area this morning.

The beach will reopen when the bureau determines it is safe to do so, the county said in a news release.
