The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a high surf will affect shores facing east on all Hawaiian islands except Niihau and Kahoolawe until noon Saturday.
A swell created by a distant storm will arrive today, building the surf to the advisory level by this afternoon along shores facing east. This swell from the north northeast will fall below the 8-foot advisory threshold by Saturday afternoon.
Surf along east-facing shores of Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Maui, Lanai and the Big Island will rise to 5 to 8 feet by this afternoon.
A high surf advisory means that high surf will affect beaches in the advisory area, producing rip currents and risky swimming conditions.
