A 67-year-old Princeville woman is in serious condition after being struck by a vehicle while waiting to cross the street.

Joyce Barrett was standing in the middle of Pepelani Loop at the Kahaku Road junction, waiting to cross Kahaku Road at around 7 a.m. Wednesday.

She was hit by a car driven by a 53-year-old Princeville woman who was making a left hand turn onto Pepelani Loop from Kahaku Road.

Barrett sustained serious injuries and was treated at the scene. She was later taken to Wilcox Hospital.

The driver was cited for making an improper left hand turn.
