Two rivers in the town of Wainiha overflowed their banks because of the heavy rains. The rushing water covered yards and streets carrying away heavy items like cars.
Chanel Adams said she was terrified.
“Everything started pushing down the river, cars, washer and dryer, propane tanks…no life, no animals, or people, so we were pretty lucky there. But surf boards, everything flying down the river,” said Adams.
Someone else’s mattress ended up in her yard.
The gushing water also shifted a nearby home off its foundation and flattened plants and trees in its path.
