Gov. Linda Lingle has appointed Laura H. Thielen to serve as interim director of the state Department of Land and Natural Resources.
Thielen, who is the executive director of the state Office of Planning, will begin her new job on July 30, the governor announced this morning.
She replaces interim director Allan Smith, who filled the spot on May 1 after the state Senate rejected the reappointment of DLNR Director Peter Young.
Thielen is Lingle’s choice for the permanant position of DLNR director but the appointment is subject to confirmation by the state Senate in its 2008 session.
