Body found

July 25th, 2007 · No Comments

North Shore firefighters recovered the body of a woman yesterday morning in Kilauea at Kalihiwai Bay.

Police do not believe foul play is a factor, however, the case is under investigation, Mary Daubert, county spokeswoman, said.

Emergency responders from the Hanalei fire station and rescue specialists from Lihu‘e recovered the woman’s body yesterday at 6:08 a.m. on the east side of the bay.

Daubert could not confirm whether the body was located in the water or on the shore, or whether the woman may have drowned.

Investigators have reason to believe the woman wasn’t a tourist, however, would not give the approximate age of the woman.

The body was tentatively identified by police, however, at press time, county officials were not releasing salient details, as next of kin had not yet been notified.
