They were supposed to be up early, but thanks to a quick response from community volunteers, the “do gooders†services weren’t needed.
Mason Chock of Leadership Kaua‘i said the skateboard park in Kapa‘a was tagged with graffiti over the weekend, and with a skateboard contest scheduled for tomorrow, he arranged to have students from the youth program come to paint over the malicious markings.
“The community saw the graffiti and reacted quickly,†Chock said. “This means the students don’t have to ruin their Spring Break by coming out to clean up.â€
Chock said Leadership Kaua‘i is one of the groups organizing the skateboard contest starting at 9 a.m. tomorrow at the Kapa‘a skate park.
“We’ll be here early,†Chock said. “Our students will be helping with the registration and doing other things in preparation for the day-long contest.â€
But silently, Chock was afraid they would need to clean up more graffiti that might occur.
